Men have always gathered together. At least, until recently. So many of us lose track of our deep Self in the hustle of everyday life. We forget that we don’t have to do it all by ourselves. And we falsely believe that we are isolated in our struggles, fears, and desires. Men’s work helps to break this spell, and can provide a much-needed container where we can gather strength, and cultivate our vision.
Drawing on the tradition of Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell, and the “mythopoetic men’s movement,” we will delve into the realm of myth, poetry, and the lived experiences of each man present as a gateway into the masculine psyche. Touching on collective themes such as life purpose, grief, initiation, ancestry, relationships, and spirituality, no two weeks will be the same.
Ask yourself:
How would your life be different if you had a supportive, positive community of men to regularly connect with?
What does healthy masculinity look like in the 21st century?
What stories about being a man might need to die, and what stories might need to be resurrected or reimagined?
What can myth and archetypes teach us about masculinity in a rapidly changing world?
